Pauline Murray-Parahi

Viewing the video in which Pattie Maes from TED about the way she reveals a wearable device that interacts with the environment, was exciting but predictable. Gene Rodenberry and George Lucas have been dreaming up this stuff for years... it means a great deal of money for multinational companies and a few more designers of interactive multimedia might stay off the breadline for a few more years? (that is my cynical response)...the gadget -loving brainstorming side of my brain of course was bathed in a soup of dopamine, nor-adrenaline and seratonin... as I positively drooled at the possibilities this will mean to resource-poor (cheapskate) nurse educators like me! If anyone knows where to get a cheap pendant size data projector like that one... please let me know.

  2. Hi Pauline,

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog - it's kinda hard to be a 'learning community' with all our own blogs. You sound like you must have a lot of energy with so many interests and pursuits! Good luck with the rest of EDGE903 :-)

  3. Hi Abbie... ditto...I was moaning to a colleague...what a slack CoP!... but then you came to the rescue and restored my belief in the process LOL...actually I was just posting another comment on your blog- this time about your presentation- it is ... NO.... I don't think I'll disclose... you (and everyone else) will have go to your blog to read my review... and maybe post a COMMENT??? Lets see. Perhaps we could conduct an experiment by asking everyone to post a comment on your blog... Fan mail:).
Energy? Possibly... but it is focussed so maybe obsession or mania might be a better descriptor.... or is that what you meant??? I guess I get a real kick out challenges and learning new things...

PS I like Jane Austin too- but movies... and James Joyce, Noam Chomsky....and Graham Green and George Orwell... is there a theme emerging here?...

  4. thanks for the comment..Amazing pauline...the technology is amazing...i think it's another product which is going to be big but with the technology also comes the security problems..privacy remains a question mark.Imagine just standing infront of someone and the complete profile of the person. By the way it will take some years to get a cheap pendant size data projector like that one...

  5. Yes I agree Luke, which is why I haven't shown the video to my husband... he HAS to have the latest iPod/ phone/whatever. Yes that's a point about the security... particularly if you had an embarracing medical condition :(... but maybe it would be good for highlighting shonky builders or recalcitrant offenders etc... or perhaps fitted with sensors (you wear the antena on your head, like my favourite martian)picks up subtle vital sign changes ...(cut down the nurses workload too)...as well as detecting liars...it would negate the need for speed dating services- all you would have to do is turn up to any target rich environment and turn on your antena.... currently technology for some is a couple of shots :).... or so I am told.
