Of course where food is concerned, Zora thinks everyday is her birthday.
The reason I stated this post is to try to figure out how I can convert a PPT to a video....
First Stage- just trying out a video and a picture to see if they upload.
This is in response to a disappointment with slide share and how it interfaces with my PPT - I think I may send them a strongly worded email and ask them why they don't support PPT with animated functions.
Perhaps they will post my letter so other ICT support staff can have a good laugh (see what David Progue has to say about that.... and tell me what you think!).
I noticed Marina was having difficulties with slide share when she initially uploaded her file, but her presentation doesn't appear to have suffered at all. Mine on the other hand was totally reliant on animation... I though I was being very clever by using multiple layering on each slide as a means to cram in more information, but clearly my sins have found me out. Was it George Bernard Shaw who said... "I would have written a shorter letter but I didn't have the time", sounds like something he would have said- if not please enlighten us all...
Clearly the process of design, where economy (although not always found on the cutting room floor) is certainly evident in the final product, whether that is fashion or a technological device.
All the hard work has been made invisible.
Well the video has finally uploaded and I must try to get more than 2 hours sleep tonight or my new graduate nurses will begin to wonder about me when I start talking drivel again... enjoy.
:)PP.

Hi Pauline, your daughter seemed to really enjoy the treat of breakfast in bed. I hope it is recipticated on your birthday & mothers day.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find your link to your presentation. What am I doing wrong.
My presentation did have some basic animation to it. Just the pages spinning & sliding etc. Nothing too creative, but it didn't come across either. I sent mine to Ian as pdf as that is what had to do last semester for them to be able to open it, so he didn't get the animations either.
Hi Marina,
ReplyDelete'Mokopuna' is Maori for grandchild.. but thanks for the compliment LOL...(although I was a very early starter-so not that funny I suppose)...
Yes with all this technology we are learning along the way...we are a bit like designers... all the hard work (and cursing the computer) is hidden or at least it would be if it weren't for this blog project, which occurred to me when I had to upload the PPT many times using 2 different providers...
But the solution came via Abbie when I checked out her PPT- and noticed she had a different provider [loved the fish Abbie!], eventually steering me in the right direction- so I used authorSTREAM.... MUCH BETTER!!! Maybe you should try that Marina-it's amazing what a difference it makes... only one thing is that a couple of symbols such as '-' changes to a box with a '?' in it- most inconvenient particulalry when I was making a definative statement! But I guess that's one of those heuristics that should be considered when planning online learning... differentiating technology.
I must thank her and let her know how to avoid the ads at the start- I was able to figure that out. This community of practice blog format is a great idea... there is much more interaction and sharing of ideas...and it's a hoot getting mail.
Perhaps these are all benefits (holistic learning environment)which the results of Ian's research might reveal... (or did I just break the prime directive and add another variable by being aware of that?). What also amused me was how my allegance is so fragile... I think I might have become a technology floosy... jumping straight on to the next best thing at the slightest temptation of a handsome facade :) Better not let my husband see this post :(
:)PP
Sorry... I went to the shops in the middle of that treatise...I didn't realise it was so long (only being aware of this little screen.
